General Information
U12 Boys/Girls - The Under 12 program is birth date restricted. The program will play a 8 v 8 format with a goalkeeper. The games are every Saturday, late mornings along with some weeknight games. The games will be played at Easton, Gahanna and at NASA. This division is composed of players that need greater challenge while remaining a recreational player. This is a pre-select level in a lower competitive environment, but greater than internal NASA play. Players are not required to attend every game and practice, but it is recommended to do so as much as possible. Players must be current with fees and service hours to play, as this opportunity has greater costs to the Club. A Club uniform is required. It also must be numbered by NASA. You may purchase a new jersey set or give your current set to NASA for numbering. Specific number requests may not be possible.
Program Cost: $100.00 plus 12 hours help in some capacity at the Club. Please do not register in the staff coached division if you are unwilling to help further your child's participation. NASA is a non-profit organization that can only do as much as the parents provide to operate. The fee alone does not cover the cost of participation.
Dates of Registration: Registration space is limited and starts in mid July for the Fall season in January for the Spring season and ends when full on or before the week before first game.
Dates The season will run from September through October for the Fall and April through May for the Spring season.
First Game To be announced
Last Game To be announced
Make Up Days will be: TBD
Practice Twice a week. (days and times T.B.A.) at Baker Blvd (NASA Fields).
End of season: There is a single elimination tournament at the end of the season. Each player will receive an end of season award.
Uniform: A NASA uniform is required for this division. The uniform includes a red jersey, a white jersey, black shorts, and red socks. We also require shin guards and soccer shoes (with cleats or flats) are acceptable. THE UNIFORM JERSEY MUST BE NUMBERED. EITHER PURCHASE A NEW SET IF NEEDED; OR BRING YOUR OLD ONE TO NASA FOR NUMBERING. NUMBER REQUESTS ARE NOT POSSIBLE.
Parent Involvement Although each team will have a staff head coach and a couple parent assistants, we expect all parents to be involved in the Club doing the many jobs that need to be done for a successful season. We also expect positive encouragement at this age which is important; practice and games are about fun and development rather than winning.
Program change: So why the change? Many of our players end up playing in high school, even though this decision may come to them at different times. Our program has done as much as possible for this preparation in the past. But the experience level must increase as the area high schools improve. We have found it difficult to ask or show the players the need for certain decisions and skills during regular NASA games. Players could coast or even make a bad decision or play and still be successful....or so they think. A more determined opponent like they will find in the future will show them that poor decisions and play will not have success. They are still young and recreational, but the challenge and determination level will increase, so that we can prepare the players for the future.
